What it is:

A nebulizer is a device that turns medicinal liquids into mist so they can be easily inhaled through a mouthpiece.

*Please note that the following information should not be used as medical advice and as such, no dosage information is provided.  Dr. David Brownstein, M.D., and Dr. Joseph Mercola, D.O., discuss saline, hydrogen peroxide and iodine nebulization on Dr. Mercola’s podcast, “Take Control of Your Health” Part 1  and Part 2.  Highlights of this podcast can also be found on YouTube.  Dr. Brownstein has authored over a dozen books, several of which specifically address iodine.  Another resource is Dr. Thomas Levy, M.D, J.D.  Dr. Levy has authored over a dozen books, one of which is entitled “Rapid Virus Recovery,” and speaks specifically about nebulized hydrogen peroxide.  This book is no longer available on Amazon; however, I have included a link to a free downloadable e-book online.  Consult with your trusted qualified healthcare provider regarding a medical condition or treatment before undertaking a new health care regimen or treating any conditions.

Health benefits:

My family uses the nebulizer when any of us begin to feel cold symptoms coming on.  It makes us feel better, and we believe it supports our bodies to move more quickly through whatever ails us.

How I use it:

When I or one of my children has a cough, scratchy throat, chest congestion, or stuffy nose, we get out our nebulizer.  We combine saline solution, food grade Hydrogen Peroxide, and Lugol’s liquid iodine in the atomizer. We nebulize for approximately 5 minutes or until there is no solution remaining in the atomizer.

*Consult with your trusted qualified healthcare provider regarding a medical condition or treatment before undertaking a new health care regimen.

How I found it:

A client of mine who has been a nurse for 30+ years came to her appointment one day excited to share with me what she had learned in Dr. Levy’s book.  I had already been introduced to nebulized hydrogen peroxide through Dr. Mercola and Dr. Brownstein, so I was very interested to learn more and purchased the book when it first came out and was still available on Amazon.

Why I use it:

After years of repeated antibiotic use for my children’s ear infections and bouts of strep throat as well as anti virals for flu, not to mention annual admonishments to get yet another vaccine and still get the illness it was supposed to protect against, I find this to be a better approach.

About The Author - Abby Cain

Abby opened a personal fitness studio in 2010. Although her clients were very committed to achieving better health outcomes through their workouts, their eating behaviors and lifestyle choices outside of the gym were preventing them from achieving optimal health. She began sharing tips and ideas on how to better support the work clients were doing inside the gym by introducing clients to her favorite products she had discovered over the years to support her own health journey. Thus Buy Healthy Live Healthy was born.

I have been reading a lot about Lugol’s iodine. Would you (personally) nebulize with organic or inorganic Lugol’s? Do you trust J Crow when they describe the dangers of organic iodine and that it is radioactive. It’s hard to know who to trust.

    Thank you so much.

Thank you for your comment. I imagine many people have similar questions as yours. I am not a doctor. I cannot make recommendations for what anyone else should or shouldn’t use to treat a medical condition as that would be considered medical advice. What I can say is that after reading Dr. Levy’s book, “Rapid Virus Recovery,” and after listening to Dr. Mercola’s two podcasts with Dr. Brownstein and Dr. Levy, I personally use Lugol’s iodine. There are links to all three resources in the review for Lugol’s iodine. I currently do not have Organic J. Crow’s Lugol’s iodine in my medicine cabinet, but I typically would always choose organic over non organic if given the option.

I agree that it is very difficult to discern what advice to trust. I am very lucky to have a set of experiences, personal relationships with clients that are experts in the established medical community, as well as foundational learning through education and certifications that help me to discern the best path forward for my family. It is also difficult because there are industries that are incented primarily through profit that may not exactly tell the whole truth about their own products nor about products that don’t support their own bottom lines.

Which means people are increasingly having to make difficult decisions about their own health without the benefit of an educated, credentialed, trusted medical professional illuminating the best path forward. It can be scary. And very frustrating. Over the past 13 years, I have seen so many less than optimal health outcomes as I have worked with individuals who have primarily relied on the established medical establishment. Very sad.

But take heart! There are plenty of resources out there! Keep seeking out information and understanding! Although it may not feel like it now, I would bet if you continue your health journey with an open mind and intent to get at the truth of things, you will eventually come to peace about the best path forward for you and your family’s health. Please come back and share what you learn : )
