According to Medical News Today, purported benefits of colloidal silver include cleansing the gut, boosting the immune system, treating fungal infections, improving skin health, preventing the flu, preventing shingles, preventing herpes, and preventing certain types of cancer.

How I use it:

I have applied Silver Shield gel on the neck for sore throats and on lymph nodes if they are swollen.  I have also applied Silver Shield gel on the eye lids for eye infections.  If scrapes and scratches look infected, I apply Silver Shield to them.  I used Silver Shield gel on an aggressive skin infection which resolved completely within 48 hours after having applied Silver Shield gel several times.

How I found it:

A friend of mine would apply Silver Shield gel to his nasal passages when he felt a cold coming on.  When I asked him why, he said that colloidal silver was antibacterial.

Why I use it:

I had what I thought was some sort of bug bite just to the left of the base of my spine.  I wondered if it might be a spider bite because it continued to worsen over the course of a week.  My experience is that ant bites and mosquito bites resolve in a couple of days. 

I asked a client who was the former head of Microbiology at the local hospital what she knew about spider bites.  She replied that what most folks thought was a spider bite, was actually MRSA!   When I asked how you could tell, she described that MRSA would eat through layers of the skin. 

I went home and through some impressive contortions and the help of a mirror, I was able to take a picture of the area.  The area was slightly feverish and raised but still looked like a relatively normal bug bite; however, within 24 hours the area had greatly deteriorated.  The skin had hardened and was extraordinarily painful.  These pictures were taken within 24 hours of each other.

I knew I needed to get this under control fast or I feared I would end up in urgent care and on a course of antibiotics.  I contacted a local herbalist who sold Silver Shield gel in her office.  She also gave me some plantain, a medicinal herb from her yard.  Within two hours of applying both, the pain had vanished.  And within 48 hours the skin had completely healed.
